Nokia N95 (Page 1 of 4 )
The Nokia N95 was not originally designed to be distributed in the United States, but after so many requests for this device coming from North America, Nokia decided to develop a U.S. version of the popular phone. This review will explore its various intricacies and specifications, so read on to find out if this phone is right for you.
Europeans are not strangers to the awesome power of the Nokia N95 smart phone, as it has been available in Europe since 2006. It's almost degrading for me to call this device a phone, because it is so much more than that. The N95 gives you a digital camera, MP3 player, Video capabilities, GPS, and Internet access, all in one device.

There are a couple of problems with the conversion of the European version to the U.S. version of the N95. The first problem is that the U.S. version is not compatible with U.S. 3G networks, although it is still compatible with standard Wi-Fi networks. Another problem with the U.S. version is that the small camera on the face of the phone, used for video calling, is not functional in the U.S. version of the N95.
Why does the phone have these issues? I don't know. My only guess is that Nokia may have rushed the U.S. version into the U.S. market, and consequently left out some of the features.
The Nokia N95 is the successor to other N-series smart phones from Nokia, such as the N93 and the N91. The N95 is better than its predecessors in pretty much every way possible, except maybe battery life -- a category where the N95 does not shine.
Currently, you can pick up the N95 for $699 from the Nokia website. This is a very expensive device, because it is currently only sold as an unlocked smart phone. At other online stores, I have seen the N95 for as little as $550. At this price, the N95 becomes much more affordable and well worth the high price tag. Also worth noting is that the N95 is currently available in a 2 GB model, but Nokia was supposed to release an 8 GB model before the end of 2007.
