Mio C520 GPS - Performance

Performance
Performance of the C520 is good when compared to the competition. This device takes about a minute or two to power up and secure a satellite fix. This unit will hold its position relatively well in most conditions.
Recent tests by independent companies have shown that the navigation function of this device is average. At times, the C520 would be a block or two behind with the TTS function. The reroute feature doesn't always give the best new route, although it does get you to your destination. I would grade the navigation capabilities of this device as a B-, so it's not too bad.
The Bluetooth performance is okay, although there are limitations to this feature as I have previously mentioned. Make sure you check with Mio to see if your cell phone is compatible with the C520 before you buy it.
The music and video performance were also average. Music sounds all right through the speaker located on the rear of the device, but in order to use headphones with the C520, you must have headphones with a 2.5 mm jack. It would have been great to see Mio integrate an FM transmitter into this device, so you could play music through the car's speakers. Without this feature, the music player is almost worthless; you might as well just listen to your iPod or car stereo.

Lastly, the battery life of the C520 is up to par with a rated 4.5 hours of life. The battery used in the C520 is a lithium ion rechargeable battery. The manufacturer also states that the C520 will get 8.5 hours of MP3 playback with the backlight turned off.
