Top Three Flat Panels for Under $200 - Dell UltraSharp 1905 FP

This Dell UltraSharp LCD monitor is well worth the $190 (approximate) price tag.  As a matter of fact, I like the Dell UltraSharp line of flat panels better than any other line by any other manufacturer.  The reason for this is because of the usability of the Dell monitors. The 1905 FP is very user friendly, and that is my favorite feature in this model.  The ergonomic design of this monitor allows the user to adjust the screen by tilting it up and down, left and right, raising it up and down, and turning it to landscape position or portrait position.  The monitor can be raised from a three inch height to an eight inch height.

The screen itself is very nice and offers 19 inches of viewable space.  Because you are able to adjust the screen to the best possible angle, this screen tends to be very comfortable on the eyes.  The brightness is easily adjustable, which also makes it comfortable to view in various lighting conditions.  The unit itself is only about 15 pounds, with overall dimensions of 16.3 x 8.4 x 16.4 inches.

Some of the key specs include an image contrast ratio of 800:1, a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024/75 hertz, a response time of 20 milliseconds, and the option of analog or digital input.  The numbers are really good with this monitor, except for the 20 ms response time.  I would have liked to see this number higher, and this is why I would recommend one of the other two monitors in this review for gaming or movies.  This somewhat slow response time may produce some slight ghosting when watching fast-moving objects in games or movies.  You do have the option of analog or digital inputs, which is nice, because with the digital inputs you can produce high definition quality video.

Overall, the Dell 1905 FP is a great all-around 19 inch flat panel monitor with excellent image quality and great ergonomics.  This may not be the monitor for avid gamers or movie watchers, but for average day-to-day use this monitor is ideal.  The only downfalls are the relatively slow response time and the fact that Dell monitors are not compatible with a Mac.  Other than that, you can't go wrong with this Dell.  Dell offers its three year limited warranty with this one, plus their lifetime customer support line.
