BenQ V2400W LCD Monitor Review - Performance

The performance of the V2400W leaves almost no room for improvement in any category. Its one less than glaring weakness appears to be its maximum brightness, which actually comes in at only a little over half of that of other top 24 inch LCD monitors. To make up for its one weakness, this BenQ monitor excels in the area of color contrast. The result is that the V2400W has the best depth of blacks in its display. This means that you are actually going to notice slightly better display quality in the V2400W than in many of its competitors.

Color tracking for the V2400W is about average, as most modern monitors are. This means that you are not going to notice any kind of discrepancy between how colors should be displayed and how they actually are. The only score higher than the V2400W’s, according to a CNet benchmark, was just one point higher on a scale of 100.

Video games are going to look the same on the V2400W as they do on just about any other good monitor. Very few monitors have the ghosting or other quality issues that were so common with earlier generations of LCDs. Quality with Blu-ray movies is excellent, which is just about what you would expect from a good monitor. Unfortunately, the BenQ V2400W does fall slightly behind when it comes to ordinary DVD movies. There was just a slight amount of ghosting detected by the technical people over at CNet. Although this is a considerable weakness for the V2400W to sport in the modern world of displays, it is not a significant one. The general consumer will be using their television to watch DVDs anyway, and the ghosting truly is not all that large of an issue.

Overall, there are no glaring issues with the BenQ V2400W’s performance that allow for any of its competitors to rise above it. The result is an excellent LCD monitor that any consumer would be proud to purchase and show off to friends. When purchasing this LCD, the one major factor you must consider is if you are willing to shell out another $200 for the extra inches in display. If you are, then the V2400W is a great choice. If not, then you might be better off waiting for a couple of years before you upgrade your display.
