Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd Super Zoom (Page 1 of 4 )
Super zoom digital cameras are becoming increasingly popular among consumers because they are smaller and more affordable than digital SLR cameras. Fujifilm's latest super zoom digital camera offers up to 18x optical zoom and an 8 megapixel sensor. Keep reading to find out more about the FinePix S8000fd.
The 8000fd is one of the most affordable super zoom cameras on the market right now with some online stores selling them for just over $300. The 8000fd's closest competitors are the Olympus SP-550 UZ and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 -- both cameras have the same 18x optical zoom.

The 18x optical zoom is definitely impressive, but if you've ever experienced that type of long-range zoom, you know firsthand the importance of an image stabilization system. Fujifilm has included a sensor-shift image stabilization system in the 8000fd, which isn't quite up to par with an optical image stabilization system, but works well in this camera nonetheless.
Other impressive features of the Fujifilm 8000fd include: manual settings, face detection (hence the 8000fd), ISO 6400 capabilities, burst mode, and many more. While the set of features in the 8000fd are impressive, they don't blow away the competition by any means. Fujifilm will have a hard time competing with cameras like the Panasonic Lumix FZ18 because of the 8000fd's image quality issues and somewhat sluggish performance. Most people will be impressed, though, with the 8000fd's easy to use controls, good quality design, excellent lens, great video mode, and of course the 18x optical zoom.
