ASUS L5GA Notebook Review - What you Get

Typical with ASUS retail products the L5GA has quite an impressive bundle.  Besides the laptop, A/C power supply, and battery they include a couple of other handy hardware pieces.  One of the most important is a hard drive caddy that is needed for installation that I'll cover later.  There is also a modem cable (RJ11 phone cable) and a S-Video to composite video adapter for the TV-Out functionality.  It is because they included so much already that I noticed, but an ethernet path cable might have been nice to be included in the bundle since they included the phone cable.

On top of the bundled hardware they have included a nice set of useful software.  As expected there is of course the driver disk that also includes ASUS utilities.  As with their motherboards, you get ASUS probe and LiveUpdate.  For the laptop they have added Power4 Gear, CheckMail, and Hotkey all used for tweaking various settings.  To get you started using the L5GA ASUS also includes Trend PC-Cillin 2002 (180 days trial version), Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0, NERO Express V5.5, ASUSDVD XP V4.0, Power Director V2.5 ME, Medi@Show V2.0 SE.

The included documentation consists of an Owner's Manual, Quick Installation Guide, and a full color poster sized guide explaining the installation of the CPU, Hard Drive, and memory.
