Project Sinister: Something Sinister This Way Comes - Keeping the Insides Clean

With the front intake fans mounted external of the chassis it will help keep the interior clean and sharp. The presence of those perforated fan filters will help contribute to the cleanliness, especially once they're painted. I used small nuts and bolts to attach the custom bracket for the dual fans on the front and plan to cut the excess threads off of the bolts before everything is finished.

I like the finger guard because it’s raised up off the chassis with the rear exhaust fan. I’m going to snip a few of the rings out, though, before I’m done. An obvious question is why would I cut out the existing imprinted perforations in the chassis to put in a piece that performs the exact same function? Modding is about changing the way things work, because every slight adjustment modifies it in a new direction. In this case, I did it because I wanted to do a specific paint treatment to the perforated steel that would be tricky and sloppy looking if I had done it on the existing perforations. The end result will look better because I did this.

Alright, that’s a good chunk of work down on the chassis. My next step will be to get the work done on the side panels including installing suicide hinges, and getting ready to start working on the bezel.

So far, this mod is coming along nicely. It’s very difficult to see where its going yet, but I can most definitely see it and am looking forward to getting to the point where I can paint it and polish it. Once the bezel and side panel are finished being modded, the final look will start to take shape and, hopefully, the sinister effect will be visible. Look for the continuation of this article next Monday.
