Tottenham have agreed a loan deal to buy Timo Werner from RB Leipzig

Tottenham have agreed an initial loan deal for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

The athlete RIt was reported that the clubs are in talks for the former Chelsea player to return to the English Premier League until the end of the 2023-24 season.

An agreement has now been reached for a loan with an option to buy which is believed to be in the region of €15-20 million.

Tottenham will cover Werner's entire salary for the remainder of the season, with the 27-year-old set to undergo a medical as soon as possible.

Manchester United have also been monitoring Werner, but he is now set to join Ange Postecoglou's side.

RB Leipzig confirmed on Saturday that Werner will miss the friendly match against St. Gallen due to transfer talks.

Werner swapped RB Leipzig for Chelsea for £47.5m in 2020 but has been unable to replicate his goalscoring style in the Bundesliga and has struggled to hold down a starting place in west London.

He scored 23 goals in 89 appearances for Stamford Bridge, but returned to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022 after making just 15 appearances in the Premier League the previous season.

Werner has made 14 appearances for Leipzig so far this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
