Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan set photo

Production is underway on “A Complete Unknown,” the upcoming Bob Dylan film directed by James Mangold and starring Timothée Chalamet as the iconic American musician. A set of photos from the shoot in New York City have surfaced online, offering a first look at the 28-year-old actor in costume.

Completely Anonymous follows Dylan's emergence on the New York folk music scene during the 1960s after the singer-songwriter moved from Minnesota to New York.

In the first look from the collection, Chalamet can be seen wearing an old-fashioned-looking scarf, some gloves and a thick jacket. Sounds like a snowy day in New York to a young Bob Dylan. Of course, he carries a guitar too.

Along with Chalamet, the cast of “A Complete Unknown” is also reported to include Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Nick Offerman as Alan Lomax, and Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash. Edward Norton stepped in to play Pete Seeger after a production delay led to Benedict Cumberbatch pulling out.

“The best real-life movies are never cradle to grave, but about a very specific moment,” Mangold told the Happy Sad Confused podcast last year, speaking about the film. “It's kind of a musical about this moment in time, the early '60s in New York, and this 17-year-old boy with $16 in his pocket hitchhikes to New York to meet Woody Guthrie, who's in the hospital and dying of nerve disease. Woody sings a song he wrote and befriends Woody Guthrie. Pete Seeger, who's like a son to Woody, and Pete sets him up with parties at local clubs and that's where you meet Joan Baez and all these other people who are part of that world.”
