Is Target getting rid of self checkout in Wisconsin?
Starting March 17, Target will roll out express self-checkout of 10 items or fewer at most in nearly 2,000 stores nationwide, The company announced Thursday.
The company is opening more traditional, staffed aisles to customers who check out with more than 10 items. Store leaders will have the flexibility to open more staffed lanes and set self-checkout hours for their location. Self-checkout lanes will be available during the busiest shopping times, according to the release.
“Check-out is one of the most important moments in a Target tour, and we know that a quick and easy experience — whether at self-checkout or the aisles staffed by our friendly team members — is critical to getting guests on their way quickly,” the statement said.

Is Walmart getting rid of self-checkout in Wisconsin?
Walmart has not issued a corporate statement on self-checkout, but it is allowing stores to modify the use of employee-dedicated lanes and self-checkout, Walmart spokesman Robert Arrieta wrote in a statement to the Journal Sentinel.
“From time to time, our stores adjust the use of staffed checkouts and self-checkouts. For example, a store may start or end the day with staffed checkouts. As the number of shoppers and helpful staff increases, these stores open their doors with self-checkout registers to manage the flow of Growing customers. “This process is not new,” Arrieta wrote in a statement to the Journal Sentinel.
“During these times of limited access, some stores are designating specific self-checkout stations for Walmart+ customers using our location Scan and go Service and Spark drivers for faster access and delivery services. “This decision is intended to better manage checkout availability,” Arrieta wrote.
