One dead and another missing due to heavy rains in western Japan

Heavy rains hit parts of western Honshu and the Kyushu region on Saturday, local authorities and the meteorological agency said, with hourly rainfall records set in several locations, causing one death and two others missing.

On Sunday, the Meteorological Agency continued to warn of landslide risks, flooding in low-lying areas, and the rise and overflow of rivers in Kyushu, especially southern regions, due to the possibility of heavy rain on Monday.

The weather front, which is expected to remain near Kyushu on Monday, will see warm and moist air flow towards it, the agency said, making weather conditions very unstable.
