Technical issues sent MSNBC into a scramble Tuesday morning.
The NBCUniversal-backed cable news outlet was forced to run more than ten minutes of promos, ads and a snippet of a repeat of Lawrence O’Donnell’s prime-time show just after 6 a.m., as engineers and staff grappled with an as-yet-unknown glitch that prevented “Morning Joe” from Appear on air at their regular time. Finally, Morning Joe co-anchor Mika Brzezinski came on the air at approximately 6:11 a.m. to start the program and apologize for the delay.
“Thank you for bearing with us all,” Brzezinski. Viewers initially saw a shot of the US Capitol at the top of the hour along with some verses of the smash rock song “Baba O’Riley” by The Who.
MSNBC declined to comment. Jonathan Lemire, host of the 5 a.m. show, “Way Too Early,” cited “technical difficulties” in a post on the social media platform X.
Lemire also suffered from turmoil on Tuesday. Part of his show was affected by distorted video, and MSNBC ended up running a repeat of part of “The Rachel Maddow Show” while it tried to fix the problem.
Lemire got more air time after “Morning Joe” began airing.
“Morning Joe” is an MSNBC signature program, featuring one of the longest-running lineups in morning television. Co-anchors Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski and Willie Guest have led the show since its debut in 2007. Scarborough and Brzezinski, who are now married, often lead the program from a studio in Florida while Guest keeps the chatter going in New York among a panel of experts. Regular guests and analysts.
