Mississippi State football coach Mike Leach is reported to be in a “critical medical condition” after a health emergency he experienced at his home Sunday, The Associated Press is reporting.

Leach, 61, was initially treated at a local hospital and then flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, according to the Mississippi State Department of Sports.

The medical center is about 125 miles from Starkville, Mississippi, which is where Mississippi is located.

The school said in a statement that it had no further comment on Leach’s condition, although Sid Salter, the Mississippi State Director of Public Affairs, added, “The university’s thoughts and prayers are with Mike and (wife of) Sharon and their family.”

Robbie Faulk, reporter for 247 Sportstweeted on Sunday that Leach “needed a miracle”, following up on the issue of health.

The Associated Press reported that Leach admitted to a late-season bout of pneumonia that caused a persistent cough.
