Maserati unveils its electric SUV

Meanwhile, Maserati executives said that all Maserati models will be available in electric versions by 2025.

The Grecale is available with a high-performance V6 engine or a four-cylinder engine with a lightweight hybrid system. Gas-powered versions of the SUV are available On sale later this year. An all-electric version called the Grecale Folgore will go on sale next year.

The Grecale is smaller than the Levante SUV, which accounted for 59% of Maserati’s global sales last year. Like the Levante and Kipley sedan, the Greyhound was named after the wind. Grecale, pronounced gre-CAH-leh, is an eastern Mediterranean wind.

Electric Craigel Folkor will be part of the Italian luxury brand’s long-term plan to move towards selling only electric vehicles. (Folgore means “lightning” in Italian.) Following in the footsteps of several luxury car brands, including Maserati, Bentley and Jaguar, it announces the transition toward a full electric range. With the brand’s strong identity with the rugged, metallic sounds of Ferrari-made internal combustion engines in general, the change in Maserati’s case is a bit surprising.

Maserati has recently started production of the new MC20 Supercar, which is a 630 horsepower V6 engine designed by Maserati. The $ 216,000 MC20 is the current Maserati model with a non-Ferrari engine.

The high-performance Grecale Trofeo will feature a 523-horsepower version of the MC20’s engine. The SUV can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.6 seconds and go up to 177 miles per hour, according to Maserati. Maserati has not yet announced the horsepower or performance figures of the Electric Craigel Folkor.

The four-cylinder Greykels will feature a lightweight hybrid system for improved fuel economy and better performance. The Grecale Modena will have a 325-horsepower version of that system and the Grecale GT, a basic model, will have a 296-horsepower version. Prices for the Grecale GT start at $ 63,500 in the US. Maserati did not offer pricing for other versions. These gas-powered versions of Craigel will go on sale later this year.

When it goes on sale in 2023, the Grecale Folgore will be Maserati’s second full-electric model. The first is the all-electric 1,200-horsepower Granturismo Folgore, a new version of Maserati’s two-door four-seater sports car. Maserati has only released blurry pictures of the car.

New, completely redesigned versions of Quattroporte The sedan and Levante SUV, including all-electric versions, will be launched by 2025, Maserati CEO David Grosso said during a presentation. The small Kipley sedan will be discontinued because there is not enough market interest in the sedans, he said. The full electric version of the MC20 Supercar will then be available.

Maserati is part of Stellantis, a global automaker formed last year that includes Dodge, Jeep Peugeot, Citroën, Fiat and many more. Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellandis, has expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of the broader automotive sector’s drive toward electric vehicles while reducing global warming. In the absence of broader moves for more clean energy, more widely available charging infrastructure and cheaper batteries, he hopes the supply of electric vehicles will do little, he said in a recent interview with CNN Business. Regardless, he said. Stellandis is advancing with electrification Because, the way the industry is going and what the government regulations demand.

“It’s a pure competition story,” Tavares said. “And we are competitors.”
