Lane Johnson and Devonta Smith return to practice – NBC Sports Philadelphia

The Eagles had two key players back on the field for practice Thursday as they prepare to face the Dolphins on Sunday Night Football.

After being listed as non-participants to start the week, Lane Johnson (ankle) and Devonta Smith (hamstring) both returned to the field Thursday as limited participants. This is an encouraging sign.

Both Johnson and Smith were limited Thursday but both said they would play against the Dolphins. Johnson confirmed this to Veteran reporter Derek Gunn He’s ready to go and Smith told reporters in the locker room that he’s going to play.

Johnson and Smith participated in individual drills during the portion of the training open to reporters. Johnson lined up with the starting offensive line at the usual right tackle spot. Smith shared a stretch before taking a short trip inside. But he returned to individual training.

While Johnson and Smith were practicing, safety Reid Blankenship (ribs) was a spectator and Bradley Roby (shoulder) was not present.

Here is the full injury report for Thursday:

Did not participate: S Reed Blankenship (ribs), CB Bradley Roby (shoulder)

Limited: DT Jalen Carter (ankle), TE Dallas Goedert (groin), TE Lane Johnson (ankle), WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring).

Full: S Sidney Brown (hamstring), CB Eli Rex (knee), CB Darius Slay (knee), DT Marlon Tuipulotu (triceps), DT Milton Williams (ankle).

The Eagles have dealt with a lot of injuries in the secondary this season and that continues into Week 7.

But it’s very encouraging to see Slay become a full participant. The Eagles expect to see him play against the Dolphins after missing last week’s game against the Jets.

After the Eagles started the week with a tour on Wednesday, this was their first practice since the loss to the Jets. It was also our first chance to see Julio Jones in an Eagles jersey.
