Exclusive: With the four actors who will play the titular members of the superhero team, Marvel Studios the The Fantastic Four The focus has now been placed on who will play the Silver Surfer, and it looks like they will be going with one of the biggest rising stars in the city.
Sources tell Deadline that Emmy Award winner Julia Garner is set to play the iconic Marvel Studios comic book character The Fabulous Four. Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards (aka Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (also known as The Thing).
WandaVision Helmer Matt Shakman is the director The Fantastic Four From a script by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. Production will begin this summer, and the film is scheduled to be released on July 25, 2025.
Marvel Studios had no comment.
While plot details for this film are unknown, sources say that Garner will play Shala Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer from the comics.
Garner's star has been on the rise since she won her first of three Emmy Awards for playing Ruth on the Netflix crime drama Ozark. She also received an Emmy Award nomination for her portrayal of Anna Delvey in the limited series Anna's invention.
Since the end ozark, Garner has built her film slate starting with the recently released film Royal Hotel. Next she has a picture of Blumhouse and Universal Wolf Manwhere she will star opposite Christopher Abbott, and she also has a Paramount thriller Apartment 7A.
