Fallout London ‘Waits Final Green Light’ From GOG For Launch

In the wake of the Fallout trailer and Bethesda’s next-gen update for Fallout 4, the game I’ve been most excited to play is actually London repercussionsAn ambitious indie mod project created by a team of dedicated fans goes beyond many of Fallout 4’s best mods to deliver an entirely new setting in a DLC-sized package. Now, after months of waiting following its delay, developer FOLON says the end is in sight.

Fallout London was originally scheduled to launch on April 23 to coincide with St. George’s Day, but the launch was pushed back to avoid conflicting with the next-gen update for Fallout 4. With Bethesda fixing the post-apocalyptic RPG that is set to break the functionality of most Fallout 4 mods, including many of Fallout London’s core systems and features, the launch has instead been pushed back. We’re still waiting for confirmation on exactly when it will arrive, but it’s looking closer than ever.

Following the announcement of the next-gen update timing, project lead Dean “Brilla Dog” Carter confirmed that the team will be delaying the release of Fallout London until they are sure everything is ready to go for a smooth launch. “This is a team project, and we want everyone to enjoy the past four years of work to create the best possible update for all of our fans,” he explained.

Carter also revealed that the team has been working with distributor GOG, owned by CD Projekt, the creator of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, to help deliver a standalone version of Fallout London that players can use. Since the project is too large to be released through most modding sites, GOG is hosting the download and working to make it available to all players, regardless of where they own the base version of Fallout 4. In its latest update today, Saturday, July 6, the FOLON team provided an update on this process, saying that “the end is in sight” for the launch.

“There has been a lot of speculation about our upcoming release, and we wanted to open things up and clarify things for our core supporters,” he wrote. “The bottom line is that we’ve sent several builds to GOG for QA testing and are awaiting the final green light. Once they complete the double-checking process that Fallout London and its installer work on all supported devices, we should be ready to go.”

“Yes, we have our own installer, and a downgrade program as well,” he confirms. While the process wasn’t quick, and waiting to get something you’re excited to play is always a bit of a pain, the FOLON team reminds fans that the process should result in a better final product. “It’s in all of our best interests that this final QA process is fully implemented, and we’re very grateful to GOG for their assistance.”

Fallout London update from the FOLON team: "There has been a lot of speculation about our upcoming release, and we wanted to open up the door and clarify things for our core supporters. The bottom line is that we have sent several builds to GOG for QA testing and are awaiting the final green light. Once they have completed the double-checking process that Fallout: London is working and installed on all supported devices, we should be ready to go. (Yes, we have our own installer, and a downgrade program, too!) It is in all of our best interests that this final QA process is fully implemented, and we are very grateful to GOG for their assistance. While it may seem like nothing much is happening, we can assure you that department heads have been working tirelessly behind the scenes during this time to make the release as good as possible. The end is in sight. Stay safe and remember. Watch the gap."
