Diablo 4 DLC expansions are already in the works

Diablo IV launches on Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One today, and Blizzard confirmed that two new expansions are already in development alongside Season 2.

Blizzard is already hard at work on additional Diablo IV content behind the scenes, despite the fact that the game is about to launch on Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One today. In fact, the team is working on two expansions, finishing Season 1, and beginning development on Season 2, which means Diablo IV already has more post-launch content than any other Diablo game.

Blizzard is working on new Diablo 4 content

While Diablo II and Diablo III each featured one expansion in each post-launch phase, Diablo IV is set to be the most supportive game in the series for new content. Speaking with Kinda Funny Games, Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson said that Diablo IV’s live service format allows the team to expand the game’s story via seasonal content, and that there are already two seasons in development.

“As I sit here, we’re about to release the main game, finish season one, work on season two, work on expansion one, start expansion two — we’re working on that now, and we haven’t even released the game.”

Blizzard previously revealed that Diablo IV will feature three variants of the Battle Pass with each of the chapters, which will last about three months each. Season 1 will arrive sometime in late July and will offer narrative missions with richer content.
