Mark Zuckerberg tried out Apple's Vision Pro headset and his verdict was that the Meta Quest 3 is a better product. Shocking, isn't it?

In a video posted to his Instagram account, recorded using the Quest 3, the Meta CEO said before trying out the headset that he believes the Quest 3 will provide better value for people because it is seven times less expensive than Apple's $3,500 headset. But after trying it with Vision Pro, he believes his company's product is superior.

“Not only do I think Quest is the best value, I think Quest is the best product at this time,” he said. “DrDifferent companies made different design decisions As for headphones, they have different strengths. But overall, Quest is better for the vast majority of things people use mixed reality for.

Zuckerberg emphasized that the Quest 3 is more comfortable for activities like playing sports and gaming, given that the Meta's headset weighs about 120 grams less than the Vision Pro. CEO Meta criticized Apple's headset for trading off things like device quality, comfort and ergonomics in order to achieve higher resolution displays.

As he demonstrated the passthrough capabilities using browser windows, he said the Quest 3 has a wider field of view with brighter displays. Zuckerberg also noted that the Quest's combination of manual tracking and physical controls is superior. Additionally, the company is considering bringing back the eye tracking feature, which was introduced in the Quest Pro, to cheaper headphones.

Zuckerberg claimed that you can only play Xbox and watch YouTube on a big screen through Quest. Although YouTube doesn't have an official app for Vision Pro, developer Christian Selig has created a YouTube app called Juno. Technically, you can watch YouTube on your Apple device.

Apple has started using Vision Pro, while Meta already has a rich library with partners like Roblox. Meta also produced multiple headphones and reduced prices for older models. Apple is a late entrant into the mixed reality/VR market, and Meta won't want to give it up.
