Actor Gottfried died at the age of 67 on April 12 from complications of muscular dystrophy type II, an inherited form of muscular dystrophy that causes heart problems.

At once, the accomplished voice actor put all his energy into performing, jokingly, ‘Listen to me. I’m famous. I know everything! Celebrities know everything, so I know everything. I’ve been on TV.

The job was booked through a company called Memmo, which hires celebrities for these types of jobs.

Gottfried is perhaps best known for the voice of the cartoon character Iago in the 1992 movie Aladdin. He was also behind the duck mascot Aflac Insurance.

“We are saddened to announce the death of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness,” the family said.

“In addition to being the comics’ most famous voice, Gilbert was a husband, brother, friend, and father to his two young children,” she continued.

“Although today is a sad day for all of us, please continue to laugh as loudly as possible in honor of Gilbert.”

The note was signed: “Love, Gottfried family.”

Gottfried and his wife, Dara Kravitz, whom he married in 2007, share 14-year-old daughter Lily and son Max, 12.

Schwartz said Gottfried suffered from recurrent ventricular tachycardia, a form of heart failure, caused by type II muscular dystrophy.
