Beyoncé and Jay-Z reportedly shelled out a whopping $200 million for the Malibu Oasis, which was designed by the same architect who made Kanye West’s oceanfront home.
This price makes it the most expensive home ever for sale in California. However, it is not the most expensive home for sale in the country. That honor belongs to hedge fund titan Ken Griffin, who paid about $238 million in 2019 for a four-story home inside 220 Central Park South in New York City.
according to TMZthe couple bought the 40,000-square-foot Malibu home on 8 acres from William Bell Jr. – one of the world’s largest art collectors.
It took Bell nearly 15 years to build the entire concrete structure—concrete being a primary material for the architect behind the design—with nearly $100 million in loans. Seems to be turning away from profit.
According to the construction company, the home features Bell’s private art collection.
Design features also include a water feature and pool – all while using 7,645 cubic yards of concrete.
But it looks like the couple struck a deal.
The property was quietly purchased for $295 million initially.
Overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the exclusive Paradise Cove estate, the home was designed by Pritzker Prize winner Tadao Ando, one of the world’s most respected architects.
The house is located on top of the Malibu cliffs.
This is Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s second huge real estate purchase in the state.
In 2017, they purchased the Bel-Air mansion for $88 million, and invested millions more in the house to the tune of nearly $100 million today.
