More games in the Horizon series are hinted again.
in a new way blog post (Opens in a new tab)Jan-Bart van Beek, studio director at developer Guerilla, discussed the studio’s 20-year history. Noting at the end of this post that the series has now passed 32.7 million in sales, Van Beek closed the post by saying, “Finally, I want to share with you that we are very excited that Aloy’s adventures will continue. Her latest mission takes her to the ruins of Los Angeles in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, And we can’t wait to see where she goes next.”
The comments follow a similar statement made last month, when Guerilla suggested he was working on “expanding the Horizon universe with Aloy’s next adventure and our exciting online project.” It’s possible that this online project is a nod to the yet-to-be-announced Horizon MMO, but the suggestion of that new adventure was enough to get gamers building up their Horizon 3 wish-lists.
Van Beek’s recent comments seem to have doubled down on that insinuation. Continuing Aloy’s adventures is another strong hint that a third game in the main trilogy (in addition to spin-offs like Call of the Mountain) is under consideration. While it’s far from an official confirmation of the project, it’s a clear statement of intent about the character and world Guerilla has created – hardly a surprise given that over 30 million copies have been sold across three games.
