(CNN) Irish racecar driver Craig Breen has died after being involved in an accident prior to the event ahead of next week Croatia rallyHyundai Motorsport said on Thursday.
The team did not give many details about the incident, but said it occurred after midday local time on Thursday.
“Hyundai Motorsport extends its deepest condolences to Craig’s family, friends and many fans,” statement Reading, adding that co-driver James Fulton was uninjured in the crash.
The 33-year-old had made 82 appearances in the World Rally Championship (WRC), finishing second in his last race at Rally Sweden in February.

He quickly found success, being crowned Young Driver of the Year in Ireland in 2009, and subsequently becoming a regular on the WRC circuit.
Despite not winning a WRC race, the Irishman has achieved six runner-up finishes.
