Howdy, It seems that your video card requirements are about the same as mine. I also am looking at the 3600 serries cards and most folks (reviewers) that this is the hot card for our needs in this price range. PowerColor HD 3650 512M GDDR3 Xtreme PCS
The core is 800Hz and 900MHz Memory. You can also squeek a bit more with overclocking. The problem I am having is that where can you get this card. Another interesting item: Word from China...They are testing a hot 3690 card...reviews have been written. I contacted ATI and the retort was (Maybe) Any fway folks help me find a provider for the PowerColor HD 3650 512M GDDR3 Xtreme PCS. Thanks in advance for you input... Karl |

The most important thing to figure here is...........what exactly will the card be for???
Gaming?/Video Editing/Browsing the Net If gaming ...what games do you play? If its older games I would go for the 1950GT If your going to play any "newer" games.... I would go higher Nvidia 8800GT/9600GT OR ATI 3850/3870 Also what monitor res will you plat at......If higher than 1280 x 1024,you'll want a card with 512MB of ram. If it's just browsing then any of the cards you listed will be fine......Hell you could even pick a cheaper card for that matter

In my opinion you should wait till you save enogh for a 8800GT or ATI 3870.
Sorry to say any of the above cards you listed will not play Crysis at a enjoyable level.......As stated earlier I was using a X1950 Pro as an interim card while waiting for my 7950 GTX.......With a AMD 4400+ Overclocked to 2.64GHZ......I could only play at med settings and it would still lag in some places.Even when I did get my 7950GTX I tried it again and could only do med setting with some lag but not as much. Looking Here at Toms you can see the GT(500Mhz Core) is 18% slower than the Pro(600Mhz Core). The 8800GT even dipps down to 10FPS in some places on Crysis from what I have read. Although you have E4500 which is a bit more beefy than a AMD 4400,I still think you will have probs playing Crysis at an enjoable level.......Unless you plan on overclocking you E4500 to about 3.0 Ghz or higher. Then theres the fact of are you running XP or Vista...if XP you'll not benefit from DirectX 10. My opinion still stands at saving up and getting a 8800GT or ATI 3870 both of which can be found under $200 on the net. I know its not what you wanna hear but i think buying any of those cards will not satisfy your gameplay.Personally I think it sucks that we have to buy NEW cards every year just to play a game......... to Developers.Again this is just my opinion Last edited by PaPa_Capinuraz : March 13th, 2008 at 10:18 AM. |

The "Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 GT 256MB GDDR3" is far superior than any card on that list. You should get that one, only if, you run a resolution of 1280*1024 or lower. If higher, go for the "Sapphire ATI HD 2600 XT 512MB DDR3 " as you'll need the 512mb of memory.

l beg to differ. get a x1950pro as this will be better than anything. l got dual of them and they do wonders. You can go up to 1600by 1200 and still get decent frames
