What will fit this mobo?

Hi! I just bought a 28" monitor for uber-gaming fun. Problem is, it's native resolution is 1900x1200 and with modern games..yeah. I've got an older PC with a A8N5X mobo and a

Current system:
Case: Coolermaster Centurion
Mobo: Asus A8N5X R1.00
Video Card: Radeon X800 GTO 128MB /w Zalman fan
PSU: Seasonic SS-430HB
CPU: Old socket 939 /w Scythe Ninja fanless heatsink
AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
2K speed
Cache RAM = 512 x2

Problem is, I just purchased Demigod and it mocks my graphics card. So I clearly need to upgrade. My question: will a modern graphics card fit the board? If so, which one should I go with? I'm intruiged by the 40 nm process of the 4770, but I don't know if that'll be enough by itself? I was hoping to put off building a new PC until Westmere hits. Can I put a modern Graphics Card in the A8N5X, and if so what should I put in there?

THanks!

Short answer is that Yes, a Radeon HD 4770 should play Demigod just fine, as it plays a lot of modern games. What kind of graphics card is in your computer, is it AGP or PCI Express? If it's PCI Express its a matter of a drop in upgrade to the HD 4770 but if its AGP you'll have to either find a modern card that supports AGP or find a new motherboard/cpu/ram combo

The A8N5X offers PCI Express x16, as it is based around the Nforce 4 chipset. Its a good board, and you have a decent chip so I dont see any real issues with this system - once paired with an HD 4770 - being able to handle most games at 1680x1050 just fine. But 1920x1200 might be a bit much for the card, I would suggest looking into the HD 4850. It is a faster card, if only just - and its currently available for less than the HD 4770 on a lot of retailers. The 4770 has been selling very well and most places will not have then in stock...so an HD 4850 for $99 shipped is a great deal..only gets better once you send out for that $15 mail in rebate

Demigod is a pretty demanding game and 1920x1200 is a pretty high resolution, so you will want as much power as you can get without leaving your CPU as a bottleneck. You might also wanna overclock your chip a bit, as the game is somewhat cpu intensive. The game should run great, but a little tweaking never hurts
