a dedicated physics card, such as the Ageia PPU1 is no longer a good investment because Nvidia purchased Ageia and offers GPU assisted physics processing through the use of Nvidia graphics cards. This means if you have a decent nvidia graphics card (GTS 250 or above is "recommended") and a game that supports it, you can simply enable physics and let the video card handle it.
You do not gain performance by using a dedicated physics card such as the PPU or any Nvidia cards, in fact you actually lose performance because its more things to deal with. At this point its really just a gimmick because so few games support it, and those that do really dont benefit on any real scale from having it.
