New computer video card
I'm building a new computer and have everything but the video card. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the best card for under $220 would be for this system:
AMD 5000+ BE cpu MSI K9N Neo-F mobo 2x1gb RAM OCZ Platinum Rev. 2 160gb Seagate Barracuda Both XP and Vista P.S. I'm probably gonna overclock it as much as I can. |

Well the 8800GT 512mb is a no brainer in that price range. It offers great performance in all of todays most demanding games, and will do so at resolutions up to 1920x1200 for most games. But if your really not looking for high resolution gaming and your sticking with something like 1280x1024, you may even wanna grab a $140 9600GT 512mb and put the difference towards better cooling for your cpu, a nicer case, or even a 150gb Western Digital Raptor hard drive instead of that 160gb Seagate you have listed.
But when it's all said and done, the 8800GT is the fastest card you can get for that kinda money, and my personal suggestion would be the MSI NX8800GT 512 OC, found here for $210, but drops to $180 after rebate. The card features a much more effective cooler than the reference design offered by most cards and will not only cool the card better, but will allow for lower noise levels. Many users report great overclocking results with this card as well. My advice would be to avoid the reference cooler on most cards if your case is poorly ventilated (or features no active cooling towards the expansion slots) as the reference cooler can cause problems with heat and noise levels for some users.

Alright thanks, I was already looking at that one and just wanted to make sure there wasnt something out there that would work better for me. That one seems perfect though, because I plan on getting either a 20" or 22" monitor this summer.
Maybe someone here can help with a problem I've got though. I've been trying to get windows installed and everything with an old Visiontek X1300 PCI before I get the card so I can just put it in and go, but it won't put out a video signal for some reason. Could it have something to do with the card being a PCI card? |

Alright I've got a little more to go off of, I got 4 beeps from it. I think that means a bad timer. Can that be fixed or will I have to replace the board?
