Need video card recommendation
Hi all,
New to the forum.
So I guess it's time to change the video card I've been told & I tested a video & I couldn't watch it on my desktop as it kept stopping, so clearly it's an issue.
Here are my stats. Can't give you the URL, the forum won't let me.
Which video card do you recommend & why?
Nothing too expensive pls.
I am not a gamer, but I do watch some videos online (how can you not, they are all around us).
I'm a netrepreneur, so I'm creating more videos too, but I hire people to do that.

I'll point you towards the Sapphire 11166-02-20R HD 5450 1GB DDR3 PCIE HDMI Graphics Card.
It's one of the lower range cards of the just passed generation of HD series (we're up to the 6970 now :P) but seeing as you don't need anything with grunt that would do perfectly. Seeing as you said you'd be working with videos, if you decided to ever update to the AMD platform (assuming you currently aren't) it means you can decode (and encode too apparently) with the graphics card, taking a bit of load off the CPU. And why not, here in the UK on Amazon it's only £29.99 ($39.99 on the US Amazon site) and since it's a card that was released earlier this year, you'll be slightly future proofed too. Note that this card needs a 400W power supply. It's passively cooled too meaning that it's pretty much silent. http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI-Express-Graphics-100292DDR3L/dp/B004N3BH0C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322309137&sr=8-1
If you really wanted to go down the Nvidia route (which I don't recommend), you could go with this: http://www.amazon.com/XFX-GT240-550M-Video-GT240XYAFA/dp/B0032CFNYQ/ref=sr_1_9?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1322309303&sr=1-9
I'm assuming your PC has PCI Express. Please tell us the type of slots your computer has or the motherboard. Everest Home Edition or CPU-Z should tell you that without having to open your PC (that's if you can keep it on).
Before you splash the cash on a new card, have you tried updating or getting somebody to update the drivers?

Hi,
I am trying to talk to Sapphire now. They won't give me a phone number which I don't like. I don't trust companies that hide from their clients or potential clients. Companies online should be held to the same standards as offline, phone numbers, customer service, etc.
But I wrote them anyway about this one video card someone from another forum recommended. They wrote me back, I responded & I'm waiting to see if I get a response from them about this one since it has poor reviews & almost no reviews at all...
On Amazon - Sapphire Radeon HD 6450 1 GB DDR3 HDMI/DVI-D/VGA PCI-Express Graphics Card 100322L
This forum won't even let me PM you to give you my specs from Speccy
No, no one has helped me with this & I don't even know how to open the case to find out the power on the power supply.
On Monday I'm going to try & call the computer store where I purchased the power supply to see if it's on their computer so I don't have to risk opening it up.

Ah, Sapphire don't sell to the consumer market as far as I'm aware, they only sell to retailers. Sapphire make some excellent, reliable cards. Their support can be a bit touch and go but 90% of the time nobody has an issue with their card. Besides, if you order from Amazon you should get pretty good support, we always did.
The 5450 has 1 good review (and an excellent background reputation). Not sure about the 6450 though.
The top left blue thing is the power supply, they come in all sorts of colours and sizes. Read the label and look for a total wattage .
To open the computer, locate these two screws on the side panel (or three if your case is a very large tower) and unscrew them. The side panel will literally slide off.
Remember to ground yourself of any static charge before prodding your PC with a screwdriver. Touch a tap or doorknob or pipe or something bare metal that's earthed.
If your PC came straight from the shop as an OEM PC I doubt they'd know what power supply came with it. I recommend you check yourself, just go slowly and carefully.
If the side panel doesn't re-position properly at first, make sure you align up the notches (which should be clearly visible on the underside of the panel)
As for the specs, just post the motherboard model here.
Good luck
