My system consists of:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core 3600+ 4gig Ram Nvidia 6600gt 512mb PCIe x16 I want something that can play Farcry2,Assassins Creed, Call of Duty 4/5, and Fallout 3 with a little better Quality than im getting now but I wanta keep it under $150, I got a new power supply on the way so that nots a problem, ATI or Nvidia dont care just want better quality, much thanx in advance you guys always give good advice |

I'd look more at like an HD4830, it's slower than the other cards listed, but your rig isn't exactly blazing. Odds are it would hold something like an HD4870 back a bit.
What socket are you running? 939 or am2? If it's am2 it would be worth considering buying a $50-$70 CPU and a new video card with the rest of your money.

Its an Am2, my Cpu runs at like 2.0Ghz think I could get a faster one for $50? Plus im doin A total overhaul on my Computer, Cpu's next on my list, One piece at a time though, I dont have too much money at once
What do you guys think about this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161260 |

Ok good advice I just wanted A new graphics card now so I can get some better Quility Graphics, I mean my current system runs the games fine but on Low Res, it has a big problem with in-game shadows lol

Well what I would consider then is what type of hardware you are going to upgrade to. If you are going to go with a cheaper build than something like an HD4830 will work fine, however if you are going to get a little more high end in the end then while the HD4870 won't benefit you much now (in comparison to the HD4830) it will benefit you more in the future.

ok Ill take all that into consideration I might save up more $$ on the GFX card

Quite frankly every driver out there right now from both ATI and nvidia is complete crap. That and quite frankly the jump in cost for most of those cards are not worth it. (Especially the 275 and 285) |

You make me laugh too bball for making such totally goofball statements!! You obviously never have run dual/triple video cards to make such a claim about drivers!
|
|

Lol what do dual or triple cards have anything to do with drivers for a single card?
You seemingly don't know what you are talking about. But have you ever thought to take a look at how powerful today's cards really are... They don't use anywhere near the potential when it comes to power. They are very handicapped by drivers. (Especially in dual/triple card setups) |

well that comment brings up another thing Do you have any recommendations for drivers to make my 6600gt run better im using the nvidia driver but I cant find drivers that wanta work on vista that arent made by nvidia

Try Forceware Vista 32bit or 64bit drivers from Guru3d
I typically run WHQL versions, but have been known to try some newer betas every now and then! |

That 185 driver slowed my comp down like crazy lol
