Dying vid card?
I bought my evga gtx 260 a little more than 2 years ago, and have been really happy with it, but I think it's on its last legs. I just want to be sure the card's the source of the problem before i replace it (I don't have another card to replace it with for testing).
The problems only arise when I'm gaming. For a while, everything will seem fine, at some point i'll see artifacts and the game freezes up altogether for a few seconds, then resume, but with glaring distortions. For example, I'll play Prince of Persia forgotten sands flawlessly to a point, then I'll see glaring environment glitches, freeze, then a bright yellow screen (though the health bar is fine).
Again, I only see the problem in 3D applications and everything's fine otherwise. I don't see signs of overheating and I believe my hard drive is stable. Thanks for whatever advice anyone can give.

Sounds like time to get Rivatuner and crank that 260's fan to 100% before doing any gaming. I run 2 EVGA-260GTX core 216's and they still hum along just fine, but I DO max both cards fans to 100% before any intense gaming sessions!

I've run evga precision while running games to keep an eye on temperatures and it seems the gpu gets up to around 70+ degrees celsius when the freeze happens. I was under the impression that this was normal

I've run into that problem also...I know what they say cards are rated for...but thats crap if you ask me.
Like jammerx99 said ...crank up the RPM's...I leave mine at 70% from start.
Make sure you blow the dust out of your case and card too
