Desktop auto. jumping when monitor is unplugged.
I have two monitor system, using Intel Graphics Media Accelerator. And I have it setup as Extended Desktop (second monitor desktop is continuation of desktop from the first monitor).
If I unplup both monitors, the connect just second one, my "primary" deskop (the one that was displayed on the first monitor) is now automatically displayed on the plugged in, second, monitor. And if I now connect first display, it doesn't go back. I don't want it to do this. I want to see second desktop when I connect second monitor, even if first one is unplugged - is it possible? |

so, if you have the first one unplugged and only the second one plugged in, you want to not have a primary monitor in at all at that point? I'm not sure the computer will allow you to have only one monitor that's not a "primary". I dont understand the function you are trying to get out of it. EDIT: if you need to unplug your primary monitor on a regular basis, why not make it your secondary? Last edited by mrwynd : February 27th, 2008 at 05:09 PM. |

This is for embedded device (built on of the shelf components) with two monitors. I want this for consistency, to aviod confusion in the field, as users are not expected to be any tech-savvy.
I want to have it so whenever either one of the monitors gets unplugged/plugged in, it will show the part of the desktop it's intended to show. The device is designed to operate with both monitors plugged in, though. thnx Quote:

im still struggling with this. i think it is Intel GMA's feature, because I noteiced that when the desktop switches, igfxsrvc.exe starts.
