UPDATED - finished volt mod to fx 5200 with big pic
if anyone knows how to wire vr's to these chips, it would be much appreciated. there are only 3 ic's on the back of my card, im guessing one or two of these are used to control voltage. ive got photos of them on the links below.
i found a data sheet for this one. its a fairchild 74act08 quad two input AND gate. i dunno if it can be used as a voltage reg, or how the vr should be wired. http://www.alphalink.com.au/~vincenzo/chip1.JPG i think this one is from texas intsruments, but i cant find data sheet http://www.alphalink.com.au/~vincenzo/chip2.JPG i dunno what the hell this little one is http://www.alphalink.com.au/~vincenzo/chip3.JPG and do you tell which one is for vmem and vgpu? and where do u measure vout from, if not from the chip? ![]() ![]() Last edited by mvagusta : May 21st, 2004 at 08:31 PM. i just found the other two chips on google - dont know why i couldnt find them earlier. i will put up info on how to volt mod the card if i am successful, hopefully by tommorow night. chip two, the ISL 6529, is the volt reg for vmem and gpu, the other two chips are just logic chips.
its the least i can do for this forum, as two days ago, when i first found this site, i didnt know how to get the hidden overclock controls to appear on the nvidia driver!!! UNBELIEVABLE - now i find everything - looks like someone bet me to it, its in another language, but u get the jist: http://www.maxoverclock.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5 ill check to see if the ressistor values will suit my card, but going by the photos, the MSI is very similar to mine |

ive just volt modded my card, and the 3.3v is down to 3.15!!!! doesnt seem to be giving any trouble tho. the fx 5200 went from 250/400 to 411/449 with no artifacts - sweet. volts went up from a tiny .81 to 1.2v. heatsink is only a little warm - approx 35 - 40 degrees, but im too chicken to up the voltage any higher. maybe ill "lap" the core, put a big cpu heatsink and go for more one day!

wow, if this isn't my first post it's definitely one of the first few.
might as well finish the story... i vmodded that psu and put the 3.3v up to about 3.35v i think. the gpu then copped an amd cpu heatsink up front, and the orig sink at the rear. the card could hit 450mhz but was unstable, highest stable in hot weather was 425 i think, and about 435 in cold weather. the psu died about a year or so later and took out mobo it was a no-name brand psu, i was noob ![]() the card still works fine. it's in the garage now with the vmod set at minimum and at an oc of about 350-380, that way it runs cool with a very silent/slow 80mm fan. it was the first of my rear heatsink mods. i think i just necrod! |
