What is the limit of a NVIDIA GeForce FX5500 AGP?
I wanna know what is the highest clock that this card can achieve without any instability and without the card being fried!

You can't really say...All cards are differant
With its Core clock: 270MHz, Memory clock: 332MHz,nVidia CineFX engine 2.0, 68 Million Verticles sec, 4 pixels per clock (peak), Fill rate: 1.1 Billion texels sec, DirectX 9.0 optimisations and support. Your not going to get much out of it anyways.(not trying to be rude either) Its just an old card...if your trying to squeeze out the last bit of performance...be careful, you might fry the thing if you push it too hard. Try Coolbits...just google it This Guy used coolbits. If your not gaming then I wouldn't bother,if you are ...it might be time for an upgrade....but then you have to take into factor your CPU...you might not see any or just a lttle improvement, because of a CPU bottleneck. One other thing might be to get an aftermarket cooler for it. The bottom line is you might only see a diff of a few FPS overclocking such an old card...Again be careful...if you push it over the edge you could wind up with a fried VC ![]()

If you really read my post, you would have had enough info to try OC'ing yourself. Even though You were rude I will still help Generally speaking if you want to OC you download Coolbits (to unlock the overclocking features) if you have an Nvidia based Card....For an ATI card you can use ATI Tool You can also use Riva Tuner You then raise either the core or the memory 5Mhz at a time. Overclocking is an art and takes time...hours maybe days to get a SOLID OC. Once you raise core or mem then you should do a little gaming...because what you see in 2D is not whats in 3D. So when you experience artifacts, you should bring it down 5Mhz. Then go for the other...lets say memory...do the same, raise it 5Mhz at a time. You should also get and run a program called FRAPS...this way you will be able to tell if there is any performance increase by watching your FramesPerSecond. You might even want to clean off your card (of dust)and re-apply some Arctic Silver thermal Paste and re-seat the heatsink b-4 you begin,(at least thats what I would do) ![]() Last edited by PaPa_Capinuraz : December 13th, 2008 at 05:50 PM. |
