After seeing egrguy's thread on the x800 clocking, i thought i would get the x850pro out of the cupboard. since i last used it, it has been used day in, day out since i gave it up. That was until two weeks ago. Now today and yesterday, it has been under some pretty crazy stuff from me, but what do you expect?
First thing was to remove the stock cooler, and fit it with it's own watercooling loop. This is fairly basic, but still enough to keep this thing under control easily. Idle temps started at 27-28c.
Next, i got the soldering iron and multimeter out, and went straight to vmods. Over the duration of two days, i have uped from the default 1.4v, to 1.6, 1.7, and 1.8v. Now lets cut the crap and talk about results!
Temps peaked at around 49-50c max. Memory was non changed and so inly reached 1250mhz. now onto the core. it is a r480 core and at 1.8v, it made 690mhz. Needless to say, i was pretty impressed and ran a quick 3dmark03. card can't be unlocked, so keep in mind that is only on 12 pipelines as well. I can't get my hands on the remaining 25%!!!!!!!!
Now the suprising thing about all this, is that the card still works, and kicking. For me, that seems like a miracle. I am not going any further than 1.8v though. Gon drop it way back to something like 1.3v or lower. Then hand it over to a side machine. Hope you like the end result
