Ati X1950 GT overclock

I'm currently waiting for my 4870 to arrive. i thought i would oc this old card, i heard they were extremely good for overclocking is this true?, has anyone here ocd one of these and if so what kind of speeds did you push it to? Thanks

I have a X1950GT and it handles an OC pretty well but the cards run hot, especially the Sapphire cards like mine. I wouldn't worry about overclocking it, enjoy the 4870 when you get it.

Thanks, i have the sapphire also so thanks for the advice, because its the first graphics card i checked the temps on i just assumed that 55c idle was normal

Mine usually runs around 46-48ºC idle... if I OC it then it hits the mid 50s easy and I have seen mid 60s under load at stock speeds.

edit: I just ran the ATI Overdrive automatic OC utility in the CCC and it initially went up to mid 60s under load but is now hanging around 53ºC idle with the overclock.
It is showing 594MHz GPU and 695MHz memory (stock is 500/600 respectively).
Room/ambient temp is 80ºF
