Out of the 5700 series cards the 5700ultra was the only card to have a thermal sensor to detect the temps.

So some of the 5*** series did but the rest didn't... thats a tad inconsistent on nVidia's behalf dont ya reckon? Quote:
The new series of gfx cards can take a fair bit more heat than anything from the older generation (probably incuding processors) but i'm not sure what melting point is for them and i dont really wanna find out. But its true that it says the core slowdown threshold is 120c...

my 6800GT has its core slowdown threshold at 127C according to nvidia display control panel.

LEADTEK FX 5700 TDH myViVo, 128/128, 425/552, 35 degrees Celsius GPU CORE on idle, 31 degrees Celsius ambiance temperature.
could someone post fixed and safe overclocking values for my card ? would it be safe something like 500/600 with my stock cooling system ? |

Just test it yourself, going up say, 5mhz at a time until you reach your cards limit, running an intensive 3D application at each stage. When you start to see artifacts on the screen (display anomalies) or the application freezes, then thats when you know that its at a maximum and you should drop it down 5-10mhz to achieve your max stable oc.

YA what Disco Stu said.....this way u can tell which one is giving you the artifacts.
What I have done in the last week is do a google check on what the video card memory is rated for........eg: I think the new X850XT mems are rated for up to 600MHZ but they're set at 500MHZ...........giving room for O'Cing As far as core is concered ,thats anybody's guess....some crap out at 50MHZ increase while others go 85MHZ increase. Then comes into the picture cooling, after market cooling is pretty cheap these days.....for approx $30.00 Can dollars you can get a GPU cooler and some ramsinks |

I have a 6400dell notebook with 1.73 Core Duo ,1gb ram, 120gb hard drive....and it has an ATI x1400..256mb Hypermemory...and i made an overclock from 432 to 560mhz on core and memory 392 to 440..............is that too much?????????? i dont know how to check on temperature...too bad.. |

First Welcome to DEV
Second you should look at the date of a thread b-4 you post.....this thread is over 2 yrs old......If you want some good replies you should start your own thread. I would say thats a GOOD overclock......maybe a little high for a lappy.........at least get a notebook cooler b-4 you fry the thing..... Try Downloading MBM 5 OR I would try to find out what mobo you have then go to the website of said mobo manufacturer and D-Lo a sofeware program that will monitor temps. Remember that these software monitors are NOT that accurate and only use a guide ![]()
