how do you guys bench with 2001, do you just install DX8.1? where can i find that?

No it can be run with DX9.

You cannot downgrade your DirectX.

you must have a different 3dmark than i do, mine says that 8.1 must be installed to run. i am using 3DMark 2001 SE, got it from my cousin

Here is what you do if you get that error message. It is a common error which is documented on futuremarks site. All you have to do is unistall 3dmark, reboot, and reinstall. This will often fix the problem.

i'll have to try that, it could just be that it might be cracked, cus i copied it from my cousins, along with a bunch of other software, i don't know if it is cracked though, i'll try reinstalling it

That won't fix the problem PC Bliss, patch 330 enabled support for DX9 so that people could continue running 3DMark01.
