Lock old threads

What do you guys think about locking old threads to minimize pointless necromancing? How useful is some random newb posting "I agree" on a post for a question asked in 2006? I understand that *some* topics are still relevant but I think there has to be an agreeable cut-off point to lock and archive the rest.

We already do that for the most part. It's just done on a thread-by-thread basis.

I agree, old threads should be locked, I know the forums are very quiet these days but my guess is the ones posting in old open threads would add to a newer open thread or even create a thread if they want to post something.

A lot of the old open threads are getting posts to problems that are not only very old but the equipment or software is most likely not even in use anymore
