What HDD to buy for a backup ?
Hello there, everyone!
I signed up on this forum to ask a crucial question for me right now. I've got 200 GB of data in my PC that I want to back up in case my HDD fails. So, the question is: What HDD to buy, in case I just want to plug it in the PC, copy the data, unplug it out and keep it safe in some place? I think the requirements are these, correct me if I'm wrong:
Just a note: I do have SATA controller in my PC. Thanks for you help, people! With regards, RiMMER |

With today's prices you might as well just get a 1TB external drive as they can be had for as low as $100.
I have done exactly what you are doing and have have two WD My books for years now that i pull out when I want to back up current pics/music/videos that have done extremely well for me. here is a link to one of those HDD's----->link also comes with some nice back up software too. There are plenty of other externals out there that can be had for cheaper as previously stated, I just put the WD one out there cause they have been so good to me. |

Us USA dudes use this drive @ $110 until Newegg posts the new 2TB Western Digital black drive for any and all backups!!

just a side note though, if you want to do an image back up and not data back up, you have to reformat the external hard drive into ntfs format because most of the external hd come with fat32.
