Media Player can't read HDD

I downloaded and copied several videos to my HDD which contains about a 100 others. I connect my Hdd to my media player and view through HD TV. After the latest videos were copied to my HDD my media player cannot read any of the other videos. When I plug the Hdd into the computer I can read the files. I have all these videos backed up on another HDD. The Media player will read these files no problem. Any thoughts?
