You'll need to seek a professional recovery service. If the USB stem is damaged, they'll need to remove the chips and recovery the information manually. Look for recovery services offering "forensic recovery". They can usually perform this type of service.
How important is this data? This is typically expensive and you will pay based on the amount of data recovered.

is it just the metal piece that broke? Take the drive apart to ensure no damage to the PCB. If the drive itself is fine, you can (or get a friend who knows how) desolder the leads for the plug from the board, and take an old USB cable or something you can cut up, and connect wires from the spots on the flashdrive's board to the leads on the new plug. You'll probably only want to do this temporarily though.

what i meant was, could i use the same stem that broke and solder the place where it split? it broke where the stem connects to the board at the 4 pin, split evenly ..

wouldn't hurt to try it. just make sure you solder it back right, and not upside down or anything like that. Also make sure the solder doesn't touch so you don't have a short.

These guys recoverd my files from my broken-in-two flash drive in less than a day for $45. I mailed it to them overhight and then just download the files off the internet when they were done.
Ebay item is 160319911030 if you're interested.
I just realized maybe ebay item number is different now. You can find them by searching ebay for "broken flash drive". They are called 24 hour data recovery.

If you are not experienced at soldering see if one of your friends is, they will be able to tell you if it can just be soldered back on.
Before you do anything, first consider if the data is critical and if you can afford it; then send it to a data recovery centre, they will focus on getting the data off - thats what you pay them for.
Otherwise you can try the repair method or find someone that can. If you do not have anyone close by you could try asking at a local TV repair centre if you just want to find someone to solder it.

Juban C,
I saw this post today and was wondering if you recall where the 24 hour data recovery was located. I found a company by the same name in Texas. Is this the same place? Please advise. Thank you.

I could not find that item on Ebay either so I tried something different. I did a Google search for "ebay item 160319911030". This first hit was "eBay Feedback Profile for flashdrivepros". This lead to a page of feedback for Ebay items which included item 160319911030. The feedback was for Ebay seller flashdrivepros. If you click on the sellers name at the top you get contact information which includes the sellers web page:
