ok, my cdrom used to work. then i reformatted and now it doesnt work. i have the driver installed from the 98se disc. the settings r here: Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> CDROM -> Kind of CDROM your using(properties of it) -> Settings

Here is what i was looking at: Disconnect, Sync Data Transfer, DMA , Auto insert notification.

Know if these should be checked or unchecked? my cdrom wont install anything and im not sure why... i think it has to do with these setting because i was messing around with them and i got something to work then it broke again. :blueconfused::blueconfused::blueconfused::sad::bl ueconfused::blueconfused::blueconfused:

Umm.. I'm pretty sure you want the DMA checked, but that just speeds up transfers.. I don't know about the rest of it.

is every thing you are trying to install by any chance on a burnt CD? I had a CDrom that went to shit, the first symptom was refusal to read CD-R's.

Well Prince of Persia 3D is no loss I can tell you that much. In fact that game made me want to break my CDROM on purpose just in case I accidentally installed it again. Oh..and gouge out my eyes with a melon baller.
