professional can be used on a domain, and includes iis, remote desktop, efs, dual cpu support, and backup support. home does not.

unless you're using the pc on a domain, then home would be perfect for you.

Seriously, I use Windows because I prefer Vista. But if it were down to Xp vs Ubuntu, I'd take Ubuntu any day. The price is right too.
