Many schools (at least where I live) are now letting students bring laptops if they fill out some necessary forms. My school has finally realized that it's easier to carry 5 CDs and a laptop than 5 1000 page textbooks, some binders, some notepads, and more. They used to say that you can't bring a laptop because they don't know what you're doing on it, and you could hack the system, but (I think) they now are saying that if you do hack the system, they'll pretty much expel you. When I get a laptop, I can update you guys on what it says more accurately.
