PDF editing question

I received a pdf from someone. But they have done a terrible job of embedding their name in the background. when I print the text it's impossible to read in the areas that he has put his name. Are there any ways I can edit/remove that part of the pdf? which programs do I need? are they free? I think one of my friends has adobe professional as well, if that would work.

you need acrobat professional. they're the leader in pdf so they'll have the proper tools to edit our trouble document.
