PC and Mac Software

Hi

Just got a quick question

I have just been told that if I buy software imported from America to the UK, it is illegal and I can get in a lot of trouble, is that correct?

Kind regards

Ian

Hi Everyone,

There are many strong reasons for choosing a Mac over a windows PC. Macs are more productive and are definitely worth the hefty tags on them.

Thanks!!

@Ketherine, you have opened on old thread that was unanswered with a post that has nothing to do with their question.

Since you have bumped the thread, to answer the persons question in case others are interested:

Importing software depends on your country, but generally speaking if you are importing it for resale then that can be a problem referred to as 'grey marketing' as it is usually not supported by the software company. Companies wanting to sell software that originates overseas should buy direct from that company or their approved distributors.

People buying for their own use is usually OK but you may be charged local customs clearance, duties and taxes depending on the value of the software.

Some software is restricted by regulations and government for export from countries, so in those cases it is a problem. The software companies website can usually tell you this. The company selling it to you should not export restricted goods either.
