Jusched.exe. Help? Not sure if I should be worried.

Hi everyone! I once again am in need of your awesome expertise.. one day I noticed the file jusched.exe was open in the task manager, and I found out what it was. Sounded like a huge pointless waste of memory, so I went into the java options and unchecked 'Check for updates'. About a week later, I saw that it was open again. I closed it, and checked the java options; it was STILL unchecked that it check for updates automatically.

I ran msconfig and took it out of startup at that point; and today it seemed to be open again. I checked msconfig and it was checked to run on startup again, despite that in the java options, it was STILL unchecked to update automatically. So I unchecked it in msconfig again.

Just curious as to if there were any known reasons as to this happening or if I should actually be worried. Do Windows updates cause this at all? Any help and attention are GREATLY appreciated OH! And as a side note, I ran a search for jusched.exe on my computer, and it found it in C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin. Sounds valid, but I guess I want to hear your opinions THANKS!

Juscheduler is still started. It just doesn't update, because of the settings change you made.

To prevent it from starting, open the registry, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run and remove the key for Java Update Scheduler, or whatever it's called.

If the previous line sounds like complete gibberish to you, just leave the scheduler on and don't worry about it.

Hm. Seems to be gone from there. Odd. I was just worried because I could have sworn I removed it from this before (Though through msconfig, which seems to remove it from here)... hm... I'll keep up to date if it reappears tomorrow or something similar.

As I recall, you could disable it via Hijackthis... it would be in the startup dialog.

Oh! Odd that there are so many ways to disable it must be a real hassle sometimes. So far it hasn't come back up again... but we'll see if it does. Because I really could swear I've disabled it before... tis why I was kind of worried when it re-popped-up. Though it hasn't seemingly done anything bad, so... not sure.

Just FYI, it's just the process that checks for Java updates. It's annoying that it runs all the time (like the damn iTunes Helper crap, or Adobe Acrobat) but it's not harmful at all.
