Do I need a driver cleaner?

I installed a new mobo. Old chipset was VIE and new is Intel.

The general consensus that Im coming across is use driver sweeper in safe mode (vs driver cleaner, which I used to use). However, this is mainly talked about in relation to video drivers.

Will using driver sweeper help my performance when used as prescribed?

Thanks ~ Mr. Ex

I looked around some more and found pretty much nothing on getting rid of the old VIA (not VIE) drivers. The one thing I did find advised to use the old boards driver disk and try and uninstall it from there.

I didn't wholly trust that advice. I removed them manually, which took considerable time. I kept getting warnings that wanted me to insert my XP disk or Windows wouldn't run. Windows seems very much agreeable to work fine despite me ignoring those warnings.

I updated the video drivers to a newer version without cleaning the old ones. If I have stability issues (I plan to OC), I'll run driver cleaner and reinstall.
