Well the Bitdefender at least for me is partially free because a Romanian IT magazine is publishing monthly a one month free account. So for the time i buy the magazine (and i buy it because it is the best in Romania in my point of view) i have the key for the Bitdefender and i don't have to buy the software.
 Oh the magazine is about 3.5 $...I say pretty cheap  Offtopic: And no i don't buy the magazine for the key, i use Antivir  , i buy it ffor the pretty great articels in it...a professional magazine XPC

I use Avast (home edition) along with Adaware and Spybot with tea-timer enabled.
Used these 3 apps together for some time now and had no problems at all.

I've just installed AVG on another home computer. I was won over by the freeness of it. I take it that it's not going to be 100% solid compared to my old Norton AV as i had to pay for that?

I agree with Steve... as I've said before, Norton's is a resource hog and is outperformed by most free offerings.
