Polynomials homework (need help)

just a fairly simple concept that is not explained in the text.
the question originally is:

(2x-3y)(2x-3y)
=4x^2-2x3y-3y2x-9y^2

this is where it gets tricky, i assume I can re-arrange the problem to look like this:

4x^2-2x3y-2x3y-9y^2

now assuming the rest is correct (i know it is cuase i checked that back of the book)how is this part solved?:

-3y2x-3y2x

i already know the answer i just dont understand how this one part is done

well...first of all....the last term isnt -9y^2, its 9y^2.

and what do you mean "how is this part solved?: -3y2x-3y2x"

-6xy - 6xy = -12xy.........is that what you're asking??

What ever happened to taking notes and using a text book? You're lining yourself up for bigtime failure if you rely on other people to solve the problems for you.

Exactly. I can't stand it when people ask me for help at school and they have no notes and haven't looked at the chapter to try to figure it out themselves.

Also, whatever happened to the 'No homework help' policy around here?

obviously he doesnt care that much anyway.......otherwise he probably would have posted again by now.....(and if he cared, maybe he'd know how to add.)

i wasnt aware that there was a 'no HW' policy...i didnt see it in the forum guidelines.

if so, i'll gladly stop helping.....my sympathy gets the best of me sometimes.

I have no problem helping... but the internet is not inherently good for "getting help." Its for getting answers.

Well, I don't know that the no HW policy was ever explicitly stated anywhere, but as long as I've been here, it's been strongly discouraged as we don't want to attract people who come just for homework help. Had it been explicitly stated, one of us would have locked it... but I agree with QS on this one, helping people is a bad idea, it just attracts more people who want help.

And about not having the capacity to help... wow that's arrogant. You're talking to a few engineering majors on here, and quite a few others who have taken or are taking higher level math. Polynomials is what... Algebra II?

obviosly some people on Devh can handle this math i was talking about the brainless asstards who roam the forums looking for threads they can spam and flame on.

I asked for help on some physics hw a few days ago and it was a much simpler question and i got allot of good help. now when i post something that is considerably harder all i get is flames...

only a moron could imply that I posted looking for math answers, i posted looking for help in understanding a concept. AS I clear say in my starting post I already have the answer

Hey alienkillaz, call me after you've taken differential equations. You asked about grade 9 math. But since you asked, I'm locking this thread. Discussion ends here.

As for the 'no homework' rule, its one of the rules I inherited from the Programming forum where people were clearly looking for people to write their programming assignments. It's one thing to have someone explain a concept such as cold fusion, or even to look up an integral table or scientific constants but another to ask for very direct answers such as 'the 5 differences between heat and temperature' that can be answered in a grade 9 textbook.
